Following Complaint 2 I remained convinced that South Yorkshire Police were in breach of the Data Protection Act by redacting my personal data so I submitted a complaint to the Information Commissioner.
I sent the ICO a dip sample of documents that I believed were over-redacted and waited patiently. In March 2014 the ICO upheld my complaint on all three counts
- South Yorkshire Police failed to deliver documents within 40 days
- South Yorkshire Police applied inconsistent redaction
- South Yorkshire Police withheld my personal data by redacting it.
The ICO also wrote to South Yorkshire Police informing them of their findings but do not intend to take any further action.
I wrote to Chief Constable Crompton requesting that in light of the ICO findings that South Yorkshire Police disclose my personal data to me without further delay.
